In several cities, we have regular read-meets where we share our
work with each other at our homes or in public spaces. These usually happen
once a month in each city.
We use Googlegroups to help our members keep in touch with events in their cities.
To sign up, click the name of your city. (If your city's not here, mail us, and we'll start one for you!)

What happens at read-meets? It changes every time. But here's a brief recap of our first three meets. And this page lists a few online photo albums that cover some of our meets. Do also see this section of our Frequently Asked Questions page.
In Bangalore, Jodhpur , San Francisco, Singapore and Dubai, a few of us are interested in
getting similar read-meets organised. Let us know if you'd like to help
get things moving. If you're in one of those cities, or anywhere else,
and would like to start a read-meet group, perhaps we can help you link up with
kindred souls you never knew existed. Take our word for it, it's how we
felt till a few months ago.
Here's one way to go about setting up a local group.
- Decide on a standard day, for instance,
the first Sunday of the month
- For the place, a home works best, we
discovered
- Use the message board (or email us if you're not a Ryze
member) to publicise date and place. If you're on Ryze, it might also
make sense to cross-post about your first few meets in local-interest
Ryze networks.
- Set a basic timetable: a general
icebreaker chat session before the readings; then the readings, for
which you can allot ten to fifteen minutes per person, depending on the
number of people reading, with time for feedback factored in; and after
the readings, a sum up, and plans for the next one.
- Snacks. Very important. :) Organise
coffee, plus a light snack, split the expenses.
The going will be slow for the first one or two, going
by our experience, but people will loosen up after a bit. Once you have
a flow going, you can decide on themes, basic agenda, perhaps a public
reading.
The Stories at the Coffee Table contest was launched at
The Cha Bar, Oxford Bookstore,
