About Us

We're a group  of writers who came together via an online forum on the networking site, Ryze, exchanged thoughts on writing, shared work and got to know each other.

That forum (originally the Bombay Writers' cafe), has since grown beyond the confines of Ryze, to include a collaborative blog, and, even more excitingly, has evolved from the purely virtual to vibrant offline groups in many cities (with a few more on the cards as well), where a common love for the word has become a foundation for closer friendships.

This site is part of our effort to become a valuable resource for Indian writers who choose to write in English. Below, you'll find brief introductions to our online presence elsewhere.

Caferati's Message Board

This message board was the first part of our attempt to create a platform for writers. It aims to provide a platform to writers of all descriptions to interact, peer review and maybe get ourselves noticed.

Unlike many Ryze forums, the discussions are usually to the point and relevant. There are a wide range of topics discussed, with hugely contrary viewpoints, but it never gets personal, though the message board is mot actively moderated. You don't have to be a member of Ryze to view the message board. If you'd like to participate, however, you will have to sign up on Ryze .

Caferati - the blog

Caferati is a Collablog hosted at Blogger. Its contributors come from all over the world.

Joining in is by invitation only- or simply drop by and read what we have to offer, even comment when the mood takes you. Blogger's interface lets you comment under your own ID if you happen to be a Blogspot member, or anonymously (you can still leave your name in the comments body, though).
