Open Mic at Kalaghoda

Calling poets, performers, writers from all genres, any language!

There are ten minute Open Mic slots for those who mix writing with performance. Between all launches, discussions and events at the David Sasoon Library Garden, writers are welcome to bring their original work to the stage. Performers will have about minutes each. First come, first served.

If you’ like to go up on stage, please register at the Open Desk (which comprises of the volunteers/ members of the literature curating team. One of us will be hanging around near the stage). No nudity, please. And no slander.

Poems Galore

A select reading of poems of all shapes and sizes for the young. Writers from all over India have contributed to a collection of poems for an anthology to be published by Sahitya Akademi, edited by Anju Makhija and Jane Bhandari. These poems will be read out by Anju Makhija, Jane Bhandari, Marilyn Noronha, Anushka Shinde and Company.

The Other Side of the Tapestry: Indian poetry in translation

An informal freewheeling session, facilitated by editor Arundhathi Subramaniam. It will feature a spectrum of poems from the website - in the original and in translation: from the Gujarati poetry of Prabodh Parikh to the Marathi poetry of Hemant Divate. There will also be readings of translations from Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Khasi (read by poet Jerry Pinto and stage actor Radhika Mital), and the Urdu poetry of Gulzar (read by translator-actor Salim Arif).
