The Tibet India Foundation has a long association with the Kala Ghoda Festival. After keeping visitors hooked last year, they came in this year with what seemed like’Tibetian Opera’.
On a nice winter’s day in Mumbai, with crowds bustling in and around the KG venue, the amphitheater was packed,

The programme began with what sounded like Love Songs. they could well be someone singing for a lost land…. The audience, especially those who were standing in a tight pack around the amphitheater, were exceedingly frisky during this performance.
This was followed by what seemed like Tibetian Opera…. The crowd didn’t quite get the nuances of Tibetian classical music and was rather discouraging. Sniggers and snide comments during a public arts festival is in bad taste, I hope that the performers didn’t get too discouraged by it. The ‘opera ended’ with a couple of large giant yaks on the stage……completing the performance.
As always, the big furry animals got the audience roaring and clapping.

The performance ended with a fusion act - a song from [tag]Jab We Met[/tag] done the Tibetian way … the audiences loved it…
