A 20 foot “wall” for nine days, for those for whom words on paper are the ultimate form of expression.
The venue at the David Sassoon Library garden will have one wall devoted to writing by anyone who wants a slot.
The rules:
The words:
Your own original work.
Prose, poetry, scripts, fiction, essays, graphic stories, cartoons, comics, whatever.
Prohibited: Foul language, explicit sexual imagery, libel.
If you want a slot:
Submissions must be on one A3-sized (or smaller) sheet of paper. We will think more highly of you if this is recycled paper, or office stationery that has had one side used.
Submissions must be made in person, at the Open Desk, on any evening during the duration of the festival. We will have a limited amount of paper available at the venue, should inspiration strike you at the venue. (Donations of A3 sized paper that has one unused side will be welcome. Please leave them at the Open Desk.)
We may also accept email submissions. Please mail your submissions to kalaghoda DOT opendesk AT gmail DOT com with “Open Wall” as the subject line. Send text, not more than 800 words, as an .rtf file (no MS Word please), and images of not larger than A4 size jpgs. If space and time permit, we will put these submissions up.
Should the wall fill up, the folks at the Open Desk will, at their own discretion, paste new submissions over old ones.
There are no prizes, except the opportunity to show your work to an audience, and earn its acclaim.
You will not be reimbursed expenses, and will not be paid any fee or honorarium. You retain ownership of your work, but by submitting it, you give the Kala Ghoda Association and Caferati the right to display your work at the David Sassoon Library and on their websites, should they so choose, with attribution to you and your collaborators, if any.
