This workshop will introduce participants to the nuts and bolts of playwriting. At the end of the two sessions, participants will have written a short play.

Anuvab Pal is a playwright and screenwriter. He wrote the screenplay along with director Manish Acharya for the acclaimed hit film Loins of Punjab Presents (2007), and Chaurahen, which was selected for The New York SAIFF Film Festival ‘06. His television work includes editing scripts for Mumbai Calling (2008) for UK’s ITV Channel. While living in the USA, Anuvab worked extensively with theatre. His plays include Chaos Theory (the only Indian play to be a finalist at the BBC World Playwriting Competition 2007), Out of Fashion, Life, Love and EBITDA, FATWA (the only Indian playwright at the New York International Fringe Festival 2004) and Paris. His most recent play, The President is Coming, premiered at The Rage Productions/ Royal Court Theatre Writers Bloc Festival 2007 in Mumbai.
In 2005, Anuvab was nominated to the Dramatists Guild of America. He received the Best Play award for Out of Fashion at the Edward Albee Theater Festival in Alaska, 2004. In 2007, he won the Lark Theater Indo-American Council Playwright Fellowship.
